About the Role

Fandom is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to join its Fanatical division, where gamers can discover and purchase thousands of officially licensed digital games from top global publishers. In this position, you will play a key part in strengthening and evolving Fanatical’s data systems to deliver reliable insights that support business growth and an enhanced gaming experience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and upgrade the company’s existing data infrastructure and pipelines.
  • Build systems to collect and manage sales, inventory, and affiliate data.
  • Collaborate with analytics teams to deliver accurate reports and interactive dashboards.
  • Contribute to the design and direction of the overall data platform strategy.
  • Provide tools and support for internal data users to streamline their operations.
  • Mentor junior engineers and help elevate team performance.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven background in data engineering with at least five years of experience.
  • Strong command of SQL, Python, and Airflow for pipeline management.
  • Expertise in working with AWS services such as EC2, Athena, EMR, MWAA, Lambda, IAM, and CloudWatch.
  • Knowledge of data modeling, medallion architecture, and Redshift.
  • Hands-on experience using Terraform, Docker, Git, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
  • Familiarity with Agile practices, JIRA, and Confluence.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.
  • Experience in e-commerce projects is preferred.
