Summary 

The Data Engineer II role is a key technical and strategic position within Magnet Forensics’ Data & Analytics Team. 


The successful candidate will design, develop, and optimize scalable data systems to enable enterprise-level analytics and decision-making. 


The position involves close collaboration with business stakeholders, analysts, and leaders to create reliable and accessible data products. 


This role also includes mentoring colleagues and helping drive the company’s data strategy forward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and optimize robust data pipelines and ETL processes for analytics and reporting.
  • Design and implement enterprise-grade data models and dashboards using tools such as Power BI, Looker, or Tableau.
  • Bridge the gap between business and technical teams to translate complex requirements into actionable solutions.
  • Promote best practices for data quality, integrity, and governance.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives focused on data-driven decision-making.
  • Provide guidance to junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge sharing.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in data engineering or related roles.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL and hands-on experience with ETL tools such as Azure Data Factory, Apache Airflow, or dbt.
  • Expertise with cloud data environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • Strong command of one business intelligence platform—Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience engaging diverse stakeholders.
  • Preferred qualifications include proficiency in Python, familiarity with CI/CD practices, and a strong understanding of data governance and security principles.


Compensation and Benefits

Salaries for this role range between $76,300 and $130,800 CAD or $91,000 and $156,000 USD, depending on skills and experience.
